Took a charter out Saturday for some Dolphin Fishing. We fished in 77 degree water in just under 500’ and had a great day. going 12 for 15. A few over 20. Great day on the ocean on One Way Out!
Sunday bottom fishing was fun on the Otay w/ Capt. Chad, Tico and my boys. We caught a few undersized cobia on the bottom as well as about 15 endangered ARS, all released, I know where I’m going when that mini season opens up!. 1 big grown up shark and a nice Gag to end the day. Lots of b-liners and black bass as well.
After a poorly timed grouper/black bass fish fry Sunday evening, we got Otay gassed up and prepped for another day of trolling Monday. Beautiful ocean but very slow. We fished from 100-1400’ and managed 4 schooly dolphin all day. 2 in 1200’ and 2 in 100’ and water was 78-82 degrees. We spent a lot of time clearing lines as the weeds were everywhere but just wouldn’t congregate. chatter on the radio sounded like most everyone was experiencing the same. There was a cc near us in 450’ that was fighting a blue marlin when we left him. Never heard if it came boat side or not. ran home at 38kts with a following sea and stayed dry the whole time. Felt great to sleep in until 7 am this morning!
