Well the dolphin bite has slowed down recently compared the the 40-60 fish days we were having a couple weeks ago, but the billfish bite has been making up for it. We have had plenty of billfish shots catching sails and blue marlin. When the trolling slows down in the afternoon a limit of groupers has only been taking a couple hours. All around this season looks to be a great one. The big schools of bait should hold fish for weeks to come. Just find the bait on your sounder and fish it until the fish come to the top. Be patient because it may take a couple hours, but then the bite goes off.
I fished Big Rock this week and caught a 380-400lbs blue and a sail. We had a few more stick fish bites, but no luck. We took home some cash so every buddy was happy. Thanks to the "Game On" crew for letting me strike. I had a great time. And congrats to the "Bak Bar" crew for the winning 613lb blue that they fought for over 6 hours. The Charleston boys stood their ground at the Rock once again. We have some openings on the "Summer Session" starting next week so give us a call. Until then I'll be in destin fishing the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Tournament.
tight lines,
Michael Mattson
