Headed out of Wapoo Landing with a good crew of 5 at 515. Ryan, Maddison, Trevor, my dad David, and myself . Got past the jetties at 540 with about 10 boats following us before splitting ways towards different spots. We were headed short of the 380 hole where the report was for some warmer water there. Rolled out at 35mph and dropped lines at 730. Right at 200ft and 74 degrees we had the first Mahi in the boat at 740. Trolled out towards the 380 and picked up a few more on the way to 900ft. never made it all the way to 380. Once we got to 900ft we turned around as the bite slowed and weeds diminished. Got back into them good at 350ft and 75.5 degree temps. Broken weeds everywhere with no real structure to them due to the choppy seas and windy conditions, but plenty small patches everywhere. Ended up boating 13 gaffers and two slingers. Had some decent sized mahi, biggest one was 32lbs, mostly they were between 15-20 with two 8-10lb’ers. Decided to call it a day at 1 o?clock when we had a box full and everyone had work the next day. Slow ride in up to the 100ft mark when the washing machine of 3-4ft seas ended its cycle. Kicked it up to 35mph then and headed back in the rest of the way. Back at the dock at 315. Boat washed, fish cleaned and out of the shower at 7 o?clock. Surf and turf, Mahi and filet were on the menu for dinner. Great day on the water with great friends and family.
