do you think you could take a photo and explain how you sewed the horn up on your Tim Wade net? Had the same problem. When you see shrimp coming through that hole it makes you want to put in that much faster.
Tim Wade also makes a net with web sewn in the bottom for deep hole shrimping.

Your not going to crash your wallet buying it. Has enough weight to be used in moderate winds and sinks pretty fast. Only problem is, they are kind of hard to find. Mine was 8’ with half inch mesh. If I was going to buy another any time soon, I would go with 7’ with 5/8 inch mesh.
Have tried the super pro’s and the calusa. for the money, the sea green is the better.~Hookem And Cookem~
I have a 7’ 5/8 mesh sea green and its very aggravating. The weights are always getting caught up in the mesh. I am lucky to get 2-3 throws without it getting tangled up. I think if the weights were round it would not be an issue. I am actually looking at getting a new net and using this one for a spare.

What net will lay flat when you are getting ready? The Betts pillows out and I feel like I am handling a large mushroom. At the end of the weekend there were a ton of holes only at the bottom- we caught a cow skate, 3 horseshoe crabs and a zillon loose oyster shells at low tide-(the skate almost found a knife in its head- I was freaking out). Fixed it yesterday with fishing braid and crazy glue. I like to throw from a distance, find I get more if there not spooked. Advice on a net for a girl that can handle speed shrimping? (We do carry a back up net.)

I soaked mine in a 5 gallon bucket with water and a load worth of liquid fabric softener Some people on here recommended it and it helped alot.

Creekgirl, get a Black Pearl Silver series if you want the best handling and toughest lighter-weight net. Get a Calusa or Black Pearl Gold series if you need faster sinking (in over 6ft depth with some current). The Calusa isn’t quite as bulky, but the Black Pearl is a stronger net. The Black Pearl is thicker stuff, but it’s softer, for lack of a better explanation. The Calusa and Cracker nets are 1.5lb/ft, so that’s the only reason I suggest Black Pearl silver series if you like throwing a bigger net vs a smaller but “faster” net.
The Tim Wade net is not on par with BP or Calusa IMO. It’s thinner made, and a nice throwing net. Reminds me of a Fitec Super Spreader, which I throw sometimes and then get mad at it after it has a few holes in it from snagging it on things in the boat.
They’re all worth the money. To each, her own.

That sux. What do you have that they wouldn’t take back? I am just curious, and I feel like you need some help with your situation.
Maybe I can help you get your money back since I have been going into Haddrells since I was a little kid with my granddaddy like in the 1980’s or something. I am almost positive they would have let me return a cast net if it wasn’t the right item… unless I threw it in the water before bringing it back, at which time I would post it for sale for our friends here on this fine shrimping forum.

Hey Goob. Sure, I’ll take a pic here in a bit. But it was VERY simple. Got about 2’ of 15 lb test fishing line. Tied one end to the net about 1" below the horn. I then “sewed” in and out of each “square” of the net. After I think 3 wraps around the net, I pulled the fishing line until the opening in the net was about 3/4" in diameter. It in no way affects the net closing. Just makes me feel better not to see a bigun escaping through the top of my net. Now iff’n this daggone knee would heal up enough to throw the dang thing!!!
