My best fishin’ buddy, the gf, has been working the past few weekends and hasn’t been able to fish much. I’ve been promising several friends that I would take them out so over the past few weekends I have, and have caught fish, but nothing to write home about.
The gf gets a bit jealous when she can’t go and she likes to fish as much or more than I do. I did teach her what she knows but I must say she knows her way around a boat/fishing pole. She’ll bait a hook, cast, catch 'em, and get them to the boat, but usually I take them off the hook for her. She’s been very patient listening to my fish stories and I kept telling her she was building up the luck for her next trip. So finally, she got the chance to go today and she caught her best fish yet, a 22" 7lb black drum. She also caught a 17.5" sheepshead and a handful of smaller sheeps and a 16" spot tail. (red was released to catch another day) Needless to say she was quite pleased.
I caught my best sheep to date, a 22" 8 lb’er. Granddad would say “that fish had shoulders, boy”. I also caught a 15" spottail (gut hooked so I kept him for the fryer) and about 10 smaller sheepshead.

Thanks ya’ll. She’s definitely a keeper and looker. I’m not throwing her back though, sorry. lol She’ll be with me for the long haul.
She is a Clemson fan and graduate, as am I. (Can’t wait for the Clemson vs USC game. If we show up, and don’t pull a clemson, its gonna be a gooood game. Not trying to start to CF.com war but I’ve heard my USC friends brag for too long. Its time for the Tigers to put a hurtin’ on them yard birds.
Forgot to mention on the original post, but the gf is convinced that she’ll only catch fish if she’s wearing make-up. She says she superstitious but I think its so she looks her best in the fish pics. She tells me this and then hocks a big loogy on her bait for luck before each and every cast. She catches fish and looks good so I’m going with it. Everybody happy, happy, happy. She still hasn’t quite figured out how to hold her mouth right though.
Oh and she thinks she is definitely a pro fisherman because her pic was on CF.com and 1000+ people have read the post.

Hotsauce, yes I am aware she is holding a black drum. As the original post stated “she caught her best fish yet, a 22” 7lb black drum". I am also quite aware of the differences between black drum and sheepshead. They do share the fact they are both similarly striped but their bodies are completely different, dorsal fins are different, tail fins are different, and last but most obviously they have different heads/mouths. Sheeps have human looking teeth and a forward facing mouth where black drum have downward facing mouths and small whiskers. I hope the pic clears this up.
Pawayne, thanks for the backup. She leaves her rings in the truck while fishing and puts them back on when she pulls me and the boat out the water. The only time she takes them off. (not important but one is a Clemson class ring and the other was a my gma’s)
