the scoop....

WOW… What a great couple of days! I am wore out, sore, beat up, and don’t have anything to show for it! We left out of Daniel Island around 6:00 Saturday, caught plenty of livies and ran out and to the south. Ocean got nicer the farther out we went. We anchored up on Edisto Banks, just north of the Deli, with plans to work to the north in the morning. We put out the Hydo glow, and started catching b-liner and the Big (10 lb +) Bluefish show up and start eating all of our live baits. Saturday night was one of the nicest nights I have ever spent on the Ocean. The moon set about 2:30, and we were treated to a great celestial show, the Milky Way was visible from horizon to horizon. We were also able to see satellites and many many shooting stars. When Daybreak came we went to work, and moved about 200 times …marked plenty of nice bottom, but never brought up the right species. we didn’t even get the first Triggerfish!! Anyone that fishes with me knows that I always catch plenty of triggers. We started running to “old Faithful” numbers, and ended up all the way up near the Red Banks…(Same place we kept 25 Grouper last week)…evidently we caught them all last week, because there were about six thousand sharks there, and they were all hungry. I don’t make excuses, and have no explanation other than they just wouldn’t bite. We did get to watch a HUGE Cobia eat a floating BSB, saw a Manta Ray make 2 impressive jumps. I enjoyed this trip, it was good to get back on the water with OTM. I will be scratching my head for a while on this one, wondering why we had such a poor meatfish catch. We are all thankful to the chef for bringing the gourmet food for us all. We feasted like Romans after an orgy…Marinated flank steak sandwiches, shrimp salad, macaroni salad, homemade mozzarella balls, sashimi, cookies, watermelon…skinnee J would have been jealous!
Thanks again to Kapt Karl, Nut3, and OTM for being a fun group to fish with. special thanks to Phin, I hope this becomes an annual event. I enjoyed al

Good show sir. We should set up another one of these in October. There won’t be a next year for bottomfishing!!

Be there or be on the Short Bus!!

He took the bait like a bonnethead on a day old crab…

Good seeing y’all and meeting OTM at the dock two days in a row, I was really looking forward to seeing what that Mullett caught. Glad you guys had fun and made it home safe.

This didn’t looke like a GC post there was no religious or homophobic content.

Sells, Im sorry I didnt get your email til this am. No home computer! I still have that bait on ice if u still want it. 224-5205. Glad u had a safe trip. Better luck next time.

Nothing to be sorry about. We had a blast, and still caught a lot of fish. I got to wrestle two 30 lb AJ’s at the same time on a chicken rig. It feels strange not catching any keeper grouper on this trip.

It was weird yesterday. We put lines on top of spots later in the day that should have limited us on the scamp. Didn’t catch a single scamp after 8AM though. Caught the scamps while ARS fishing really…

I was thinking that you and P1 had already caught all the scamp off the usually great 5 or 6 spots I tried at SWB yesterday. We picked up and ran to the red banks for the sundown bite, but the wind picked up to about a 20kt gust and had 3-4x5’s and we had bent the big anchor and then bent the back up smaller anchor. I bent the smaller one back halfway, but of course it wouldn’t hold in those seas. Couldn’t do any more…

Glad everybody had a good time getting ready for this thing and doing it.

What a blast! All though it was very strange not to catch grouper (and trigs)with sells on the boat. I guess some days they just are not hungry. We gave them everything they wanted. Great day fishing with Kapt Karl, Nut3 and always Sellsfish. Out!

Two words - Cold Front

Hot water.

Sounds like a lot of fun, even if you didn’t bring back 300lbs of meat as promised. A trip like that will still put a smile on your face, just no meat in the freezer.

Mr. Pole… It was 10 degrees hotter last week and we caught approx. 40 grouper, kept 25, so temp doesn’t work. I am still perplexed. When you put down a hand sized pinfish, and it sits for 20 minutes before a Moray eel eats it, there is a problem.
