The skinnee for 05/28/2007 (Trash Can Slam)

We fished yesterday. Was a little bumpy on the way out and we decided to pull up short of our original plan. We had a few puking up on the boat and were kind of half-assed a little through the day with the spread. But, we found a fishy little spot and managed 12 dolphin, 2 wahoo, 2 kings. The two kings along with numerous JP1 daysavers (barracuda), and one small amberjack gave us what we needed to hail a trash can slam. We just couldn’t find a shark for the trash can super slam but we will get him next time.

Heard on fish radio that a few boats out there did pretty well with the sail fish and some blues were jumped off.

sounds like a good day. how far out did you make it? Did you see any bait (pogie) nearshore or a little offshore? Going to try and make it out on thursday if the weather permits. Cant wait till the tailwalker tourny.

I thought a bonito was required for the slam.

Turned out to be a good day.

Glad we decided to push on. Is Patrick feeling any better? I think that was my annual hangover/exhaustion trip for this year.

Wish we’d taken a picture of the 29 lb Wahoo. Looks like we could’ve called it a 45lber here on the web.

They said he still felt bad last night. Poor guy. He is always miserable out there but keeps on trying. Yeah, internet wahoo weights are awesome! It can really make an average fish a nice big one if you post it on the internet!

There’s a couple 50 pound wahoo in the box to the right of this 60lb bull.

That’s a nice picture, but there is no reason that you need a 20 gallon bucket on board, when a 5 gallon bucket works just fine.

We made it out to the ledge. We left too early to see bait nearshore, but I've seen menhaden around pretty much every time I am on the water. The Ashley river usually holds them pretty good, but probably too small for what you want. I did see some pelicans diving in the harbor on the way in.
