The skinnee for 06/24/2007

We had pretty steady action all day until we went all the way through 5 packs of bait. We pulled the hooks on a lot of fish, had some short strikes, and lost 6-7 rigs today from the hook stealers. We caught 16 dolphin (kept 8), 6 kings, 1 wahoo, too many cudas. Then Greg and I did a quick dive and we killed 3 grouper (36", 33", 30") and snagged 3 lobster. Not a bad looking box for as hot as it is. Greg even jumped in with a mask and speargun looking for a triple tail up under a weedline. I think his white man-flesh scared them away, but at least he can say he swam around in 240’. I at 3 swiss cake rolls.

It was very nice to have greg and schoolboy working in the cockpit today. We only had 1 tangle and it was a very easy one.

I almost forgot. Had a nice bump on the dredge today and lost the whole thing (broken cable). $400 sitting on the ocean floor.

You should have put the gear on and gone and got it.

Remember the pliers?

I wish. It was 250'. I should have marked it and called my buddies on the Slay Ride.

Skinnee, that’s the main reason I bought a used stripteaser… until I know the ■■■■ thing will put fish in the box, I don’t want to take a shot at losing one. I feel your pain, man. Sounds like you had a better day than most… I’m shooting for Thursday.

Looks like 6 standard 2X6's

He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.

Thanks again for the trip Skinee. It was a good time.

And a heads up to the other divers out there, it must be breeding season for the Lobsters. We had to leave two down there that were full of eggs. Hopefully they’ll lay them all in the next few weeks and we can get back to good eat’n.

Is that supposed to be some kind of funny joke? Or did you just not turn the boat all day?

“No tail like Split Tail…”

We only had one bean bag on the boat, so there were more people awake to watch the lines. It’s amazing how few tangles you get when people are actually watching the spread! GO FIGURE!!!
