The skinnee for 10-13-2007 (Lady spearfishing)

Had a fun group on the boat today. Myself, My fiance, Greg, his gf, and Norman. Katie (Greg’s gff) and Norman, just stepped out of scuba certification last week, and we took them to some pretty spots. The ladies wanted to pull the trigger today. I was lucky enough to get one gag before Rebecca took my gun away and I never saw it again. She got a hogfish. I even asked her once if I could have it back and she said no. Same phenomenon happened to greg and Katie got a real fat Red Grouper. I think that greg shot a gag when she wasn’t looking too. Also, we got 3 lobsters with the biggest being 10lbs. Mostly “eco diving” for me and Greg, but it was fun to see ladies swim around with a spear gun (except the couple of times it was pointed at my neck). The kids got to see more gags than you could shake a stick at, some nice cobia, a few juvenile red snapper, several juvenile hogfish, nurse shark, spotted morays, knobbed porgy, BSB’s, lionfish, and a butthole load of other aquatic animals.

Without pics…

(and no, I don’t mean of the fish…)

Sounds like a blast… we actually went out at lunchtime yesterday to a few spots within 10 miles… not much to see, but it was good to get under the water again after all the $hitty weather. Got a couple of triggers and sheeps, but that was all. Beat work, though.

Skinee, don’t forget, Katie got to see a fish with a shell and flippers too.

Looks like there maybe matching pink spearguns under the Christmas tree this year.

This is not a chawade…

We need total concentwation…

Nice job Ladies!

Thanks.

You are kidding right? Resize the image at the host site.

Photobucket allows you to do this.

I’ve tried resizing to 640 x 480 and even 320 x 240 and it still posts as above.

It appears resized now. Hit the refresh on your browser.

Seriously … how does it feel the first time you see a Tiger Shark when you are in the water with or in the guys case without just a spear gun?

The good thing is you usually don’t see them until they’re on you.

You tell me... Do you let your kids swim at the beach?

First kid is on the way so I can’t really answer. My question is not aimed to suggest that you are crazy. I am more interested in hearing of your experience with large preditors in their environment. How they reacted and how you did. Knowing that it is relatively safe and being face to face with a ten foot Tiger Shark are two totally different things.

Same was true about gators and divers until a few weeks ago.

Actually not necessarily true. I can remember part of a driver being found about twenty years ago off the Hilton Head coast. Question was and still is was it a drowning accident or shark attack.

This thread belongs on the spearfishing forum. I completely understand that these fish were harvested offshore, I don’t recall any comment about trolling or bottom fishing, P.S. This goes for all the rest of the spearfishing expeditions offshore-nearshore-off the beach, 10 fathoms to 100 fathoms. North to South, East to West. Buy a speargun and you will swear that spearfishing is the best.:stuck_out_tongue:

Henry…why don’t you put your little suggestion to a vote here and see what all the Grouper/Snapper/Trigger/SeaBass fishermen have to say?

Ok, here we go. All in favor of spearfishing reports being posted on offshore reports give me a h@!! Yeah! Especially if all of your state record fish are being blinded by a steel rod, instead of a sharp hook on the end of your fishing pole. State records do not count in spearfishing, It is like horseshoes and darts ( almost don’t count period.)

And if you are not in favor of spearfishing reports taking up on the offshore report give me a H@!! Knaw! I have a better solution to the question. All Charlestonfishing needs to do is to delete the speafishing forum and just slash it onto offshore reports. Like this: Offshore/Spearfishing Reports. How’s that, I like this better, sorry for the mass confussion.:stuck_out_tongue:
