5/15 - Played hookie and took my father on his first offshore trip of the year. sellsfish and Dr A went with us. Sellsfish and I took turns in the pitt and let the other two crank in all the whoppers. Biggest fish of the day hit a short rigger and was peeling off the drag like a train. For some reason, sellsfish juggled the rod like it was a hot potato and put it into freespool. We did not win that battle. Dad and Dr A ended up with a lot of meat. For only 6 hours of fishing, they teamed up on 25 nice dolphin and 1 wahoo. We lost 10-15 more fish from some rustiness, but I am sure they are sore today.
5/16 - My wife really wanted to go trolling and diving. When your wife tells you to take her trolling and diving, you just have to give in. Slept in and didn’t get the spread in the water until 9:30. I found 2 nice bugs in a hole and my buddy hadn’t gone in a year so I wanted to give him a shot at them. I turned to motion to him to swim over to me and when I turned back around I was staring face to face with a 25 lb red snapper. The fish quartered to me and gave me a perfect target, but unfortunately I got “buck fever” and my spear went flying past the fish untouched!!! The fish changed colors, did a 180 on me, flexed his pec fins at me and darted off right after. I’m pretty sure that I know what two word phrase was in his little mind and rightly so. Oh well, at least he is out there still unharmed. Then I shot a gag grouper and he went way up under a rock. I looked for him for a good 10 minutes and was completely frustrated. I swam around a little still with an empty stringer and completely disgruntled. Finally, I decided to look under the same rock and I saw a nice gag face looking at me and he had 8-10 scamps around him. I figured that this was an easy shot and thats when I noticed he had some jewlrey on him. He
