The skinnee for 5/6/2010

Not much to it. Very slow day, but we managed 8 dolphin and 1 wahoo. Had a morning of follies. Got an early start and headed out only to find several other boats fishing exactly where we wanted to fish. With low viz in the fog, it makes it especially difficult to tell where other people’s lines are. Didn’t feel like fighthing that battle and picked up and ran to another spot first thing in the morning. There were already 15 boats there as well! Luckily the fog had burned off a little bit by then. Had an array of tangles first thing in the morning. Even got a rigger line wrapped around the VHF somehow! Also had a main line part and the mono came back and hit me right in my eye when I was standing behind the angler. Stung for a bit! But, I should have known it was going to be a weird day. To top it all off, I got back to the marina only to find that I had left my car parked in front of the forklift drops and was told that I had left my doors and tailgate wide open… Oh well, just wasn’t my day. Also missed another 6-8 dolphin bites and lost a couple of fish that seemed to be tuna bites. Lost another dolphin at boat side during “gaff practice”.

At least we had a fun CF.com allstar crew on board and my car didn’t get towed.

Sounds like one of my days!

I’m glad we weren’t the only ones.

Did you see our little “friend” before you left?

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

Somedays you’re the windshield, other days you’re the bug! Still beats a good day at work! I think we saw 3 boats all day where we were.
