The skinnee for 6/8-6/9-2007 (SCSSA)

Pretty slow out there for most on both days of fishing. On Friday, we decided to target the dolphin and we caught some, but nothing spectacular. We ended up catching 19 dolphin and jumped off a sail fish. Also had 10 tangles. Saw 3 more sails free jumping.

On Saturday, we stayed in shallow to try to catch a wahoo. We never found him, but ended the day with 12 dolphin and 5 king mackerals. We kept a few of the catfood quality mackerals to weigh in for the SCSSA, but the monster of them was just under 13# what the guys tell me. After all of the yelling and name calling that I did on Friday, they were a well oiled machine on Saturday. I didn’t have to yell at them even once, except when they put too much mustard on my sandwich. But, I had to get one out to ease the tension from the day before. They really looked like they knew what there were doing out there. We tried hard for the wahoo all day and we did have one really nice mystery bite in the morning that pulled some drag wahoo style, but never saw the fish. We tried everything in the book. We put out some WTFB’s and some WB’s and some WWB’s, some LOL’s, some OOC’s and even a few “Catch 'em ups”. Nothing worked. The only thing we didn’t try were Lehi squitches. I will need to get some of those I guess.

Two day total for people who don’t like to read:

06/08/2007

19 dolphin
0-1 sail (jumped one off)

06/09/2007

12 dolphin
5 king mackeral

Good going on your day there sounds like you caught more than most of the boats put together. Going tuesday

Capt. Grady Jeffery

Thanks Grady. We can’t really complain about the bite seeing how it was out there. Just wish we had some bigger fish.

Good luck out there tomorrow. I hope that the slow bite trend does not continue, but I suspect that it will pick back up hot and heavy again. It isn’t THAT hot yet…

Thanks for the weekend at Banshee Boot Camp… it was a lot of fun! The guys were pretty happy today at the cookout.
