Had us a CF.com crew today (myself, Circle Hook, Edisto Fisher, Post Quartermaster, Tripp) to go out and try to get us a box full of sailfish. Overall, fishing was a little slow and definitely a big change from Sunday. We did manage to raise 4 sails, but only got 2 bites out of them and caught 1. One of our misses even gave us two chances. I saw him coming in hot on my bait and fed him, but couldn’t get the hook to stick. It came flying at the back of the boat. Then he popped up on the short and PQ gave him a try, but couldn’t glue the hook in him there either. They seemed pretty lazy today, except for the free jumper who gave us 19 good jumps until he petered out. One of the non-biters came in and shadowed our teaser for quite some time with his fin out of the water, but we just couldn’t get him hungry. Oh well, at least we didn’t get the sailfish skunk on us. Also caught 2 dolphin and did a little bottom scraping. Caught a couple of groupers and the usual suspects. I guess that is why they call it “fishing” instead of “catching”, but there is something about that catching stuff that is a little more fun. Also, Circle Hook came through on some swiss cake rolls and I was a taker. I got me a double by the end of the day. I also ate a butterfinger which raised a sail, 2 snickers, 2 whole chickens, 2 subway sandwiches and a whole kindergaten class worth of capri suns to finish off the day.
Forgot to mention… Make sure you check your baits regularly. The barracudas were on us like gay prison guards after hours…

Your gonna need to go fishing again soon to burn off the weight that you got from eating that feast.

Ole greenstick! Nice going, it just takes practice to get those hooks glued. Keep at it, I wish I could have made the trip. I caught a trailer load full of furniture and a headache instead.

Good time, thanks again for the ride SJ.
Just to set the record straight, I do believe there may have actually been 3 whole chickens consumed. EF looked to be sporting 2 of Dodge’s finest in addition to my bucket of the Ms Mac’s. In fact, we were probably all very lucky that the buffet barge was not accosted by any hungry tiger sharks…
