The skinnee for The Bahamas 12-7 thru 12-9

Crossed over from Boynton Beach to West End this past friday. Ride over was pretty nice. Got there around 5:30 and luckily customs was still around to check us in. Overall fishing was pretty slow this weekend. Several boats got skunked on Sunday fishing the entire day. We trolled for 2 hours on Saturday and 2.5 hours on Sunday and managed to get a real nice wahoo (first offshore fish for the girl) a sailfish (also another first for her) and a dolphin. Missed a few more bites. Spent most of our time trying to harass fish with pole spears and hawaiian sling while freediving and ended up getting some tiger grouper and hogfish. Weather was perfect on Saturday, but a bit windy and rainy on Sunday. The local restaurant cooked up our fresh fish for a small fee and loaded us down with sides and maybe even a colossal stone crab claw or two… Overall had a great time. Water temp was 77 degrees on the Grand Bahama Bank.

I’ll post a few pictures, but waiting on Charlestondiving (Rob) to post a few more as he wanted to be able to share hish wife’s first ever spearfishing kill!!!

Checking into customs in Settlement Point:

Our accomodations at Old Bahama Bay. Weather was a little stormy…

Finishing move on a wahoo

First offshore fish ever…

The better half of our crew…

Hogfish freediving with a pole spear.

Our fresh catch… Grilled wahoo, fried hogfish, fried tiger grou

Awesome! Why did they give you the small crab claws? Those are massive!

nice work jason- looks like a fun trip

There’s no way that could have been any fun

Ali finally speared her first fish. Big day! Thanks for the trip Jason, we had a blast.

Here we go again , very nice fish. Looks like you had a good time. Water temp creeping up here, 72deg and 60’ viz sun! Almost good as the Bahamas, my crew is a lot uglier !

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

Looks like a great trip. I will be out that way during the New Year. I am ready for the lobsters and the rum!

Good goin fellas and ladies

Next time if you really want us to look at the fish, you might want to hold it. What a lucky guy to have such a lovely crew!

Nice job. One day I want to take my boat over there.

skinneej; I have to agree with DFreedom! You need to ugly up that crew!

Rob what’s up with the hover hand in the picture with Ali and the dolphin?

Is that the chick from “Big Grouper and tiny Bikini’s deep diving 4-14”?

Funny story actually. It’s a lot bloodier than the left hand. Had to knock the fish out so she could hold it.

Dang man, those are these guys wives. Good fishing fellas.

I think you misunderstood that one Rap?

How long did the crossing take. Awesome trip!

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

I am trying to submit that picture to a magazine and they said that they only accept pictures if they haven’t been posted online or in other print.

Blue Runner, it’s 57nm from Boynton to West End and about 47nm from Memory Rock to Lake Worth inlet. On the way over, I think we made it in about 2-2:15. On the way back, it was 3-5’ for the first 10-15 miles or so and ended up laying down about half way back. I think that it was about 2.5 hours or so… We essentially went from Boynton to West End, up to Memory Rock (15 or so miles north of WE), then back in through Lake Worth Inlet and then down the ditch back to Boynton. Pretty much a big rectangle pattern → E → N → W → S

Rap - I was just pulling Skinny’s leg for removing the pic of the three women holding that monster hoo. Not only an attractive crew but a great fish! It was up and then gone (to be submitted by skinny to another site/magazine).

Rob and Skinny have nice looking wives/girlfriends and they obviously don’t mind posting their pics on the www. Those of us in our late 20’s and early 30’s are proud of our women (especially when it isn’t uncommon to let one’s self go after hooking a winner). I have bikini photos of my wife in my office and don’t mind the compliments I get all the time on how attractive my wife is.

No disrespect intended.

Edit for spell check.

skinnee, what kind of boat did ya’ll cross in and were there other boats crossing as well? I crossed in a 21 cat last may, went Ft. laudy to bimini to Berry’s then returned Chub Cay to Ft. laudy. Want to go to West end next time. Also, how was Bahama Bay and how far to the trolling bank? Thanks
