Venice Offshore Report
Mexican Gulf Fishing Company
Captain Scott Sullivan
Sorry for the delay on reports but here is the short and sweet version of the past 2 weeks. I had the privilege of fishing with an outstanding customer who has battled some of the biggest Yellow Fin in the world. Merle E. (coldtuna) has been fishing for a long time and it shows not only when he is on the rod but when it comes to putting in hard work to get the bite. Day one of a two day trip and we went 1/1 on yellows. Day 2 0/1 on yellows. It was slow for the yellows but we had a blast with all the sharks, black fin , bonito and cracking jokes.

The next day i had my buddy David O. down from hattisville, Ms. Joining him was his old man Gene, Mr. Pete, and Robert who works for the CCA. The previous day a buddy of mine hit some winter time cobia so we went in search of a few cobe and then headed to the Tuna spot. Upon arrival Capt. Kevin Beach (Mexican Gulf Fishing Company) asked if I could give him some of the mullet that I woke up extra early to cast net that morning and I gladly did so because I am that kind of a guy. Ten minutes later we had just got into our drift good when Capt. Beach started yelling on the radio BBBBBLLLLUUUEEE MMMAARRRRLLLLIIINNN???. I turned to look at his boat and saw the man in the Blue WOOL suit going crazy next to his boat. Pretty sure its the first billfish out of Venice for 2011. We pulled next to him and managed to get some really good shots. After all of that ruckus we got back after it and hammered the black fin. At one point we had a giant Mako swim by the boat but she didnt even stop to smell the props. After surpassing the self-imposed limit on black fin we called it quits and headed to the barn.
