The Ville 10/7

Today started out feeling like one of those days i should have never gotten out of bed. First thing was the getting bait since the water was going to be too high by the time i got there at 930, but the little shrimp i got died somehow during the short trip. Needing something, i decided to try some holes along the road, bad idea. On my second toss i got hung. I had to unload by the road and spent 15 minutes in the yak trying not to rip the only net i brought. I ended up with a nice tear, but i patched it and caught about 15 fingers on the 3rd try.

Now frustrated and half alseep still i started out straight into the grass. I made it 50 yards before i started seeing tails. The water was quite a bit colder than last week, but the fish were still there. On my second cast, bam, nice red and just like that happy i made it out. The wind made casting very difficult today, but after a while a learned to play the curve. I got 5 more before i had to leave the flat.

I wanted to fish for trout after that, but i had no shrimp and the rain really has seemed to do a number on the shrimp population out there. A couple a weeks ago I was getting large amounts of good sized shrimp, but i had to work for everyone today. I spent atleast an hour in several spots that normally hold a good number but it was only a few here or there and by the time i got enought the water was too low.

I worked my way out toward the icw looking for flounder but i couldnt manage any. I saw quite a few that i spooked off the bank or by outflows but never got them to bite. I tried to head back into the sound around 4 but the water was still too low, or so i thought.

I paddled through less than 5 inches of water exploring the area at low tide and to my surprise everywhere i went i was spooking good sized reds. I even saw a couple of things i have never seen before today. First, the reds where gliding on the mud, not swimming. The water would wake up from the heads covering their bodies and they would use the soft mud with the water

I am looking for a water proof camera to use that i can put on the Scotty triple mount, but i was wondering if anyone had any experience using any models and might have a suggestion. The camera phone is not providing the quality i want. thanks

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. </font id=“size2”>

Nice come-back after a bad start. I have to get me one of those yaks. It sure sounds like fun.
