Fish catching aside, the weather and conditions the last few days have been beyond perfect.
Tuesday the reds were not in much of an eating mood. We got some, but it was 1 fish per 25 casts…that was good enough. Wednesday it was almost every cast and yesterday we picked and picked with a fish here and there until we found the mother load and it got better. Just watching a couple hundred reds running amuck was worth the 2 gallons of gas and Pepsi.
It looks good for the next 7 or 8 days…so get out there. Starting Sunday AM the tides will be perfect and the weather looks good. (Hope I don’t jinx it by saying it)
Most of what we did this week has been on Gulp Jerk Shad or DOA Shrimp, both free lined or just a tiny split shot…but MM just a foot under a cork seemed to produce larger fish. Haven’t seen much bait, but then again I have not been looking for it.
PepPod, I’m with you. I see it every morning and it drives me crazy. I don’t know what it is, but glassy water on the Cooper suddenly makes my throat all scratchy, my nose runs and I just don’t feel very well. Funny that!
Capt. Mitch - The Saphire Shine Jerk Shad has been working great for me. I also recommend the ZMann Redbone. It’s kinda large but I’ve caught trout, reds and flounder with it.
