Backlash, just looking at the Florida Sportsman forum they are way ahead of GA/SC on this. I don’t belong to any fish associations/groups (and don’t want to/its fishing)…,but Fed meetings on Cobia, Kings, Spanish after recent closures really got my attention as I can most often catch my bag limits on these. Please contact your SC Federal reps or you will risk effectively losing offshore fishing.
I personally think showing up for ANY of these meetings is a waste of time/energy and plays to their game. They don’t GAS other than to be able to say “we had public input.”
Politically cutting their funding is the only way imo. Make the calls and “register” (use the term) your complaints. Letter writing is great if so inclined but too tedious for masses.
All of these closures is just going to turn the recreational fishermen into criminals. People will go out and catch fish, filet them on the spot and have a secret hiding place on the boat to put the meat. Like the bootleggers.
Maybe we should all go buy go fast boats and use them for fishing.
