Not a big offshore guy so this is an honest question; I’m all for keeping a fish or two for the table, but when those fish are cleaned, that’s going to be 100+ lbs of meat. Does the captain need a special license to sell this to a restaurant or market? Give it away to friends? Just seems like that’s a lot of meat to try not waste. I also realize that a non-gaffed wahoo in the cockpit can pose problems so does that mean CnR doesn’t happen with wahoo often? I’m always amazed when I see someone with a cooler overflowing with fish and just wondering if they’re keeping more than necessary when those fish could have been released to reproduce.
I know in Hawaii (and other places I’m sure), the boat captian generally has dibs on marlin meat because he can sell it to the rest/markets.

If you divide 100 lbs by 6 people it is only 16 + lbs per person. A group of family and friends could put that away in a couple sittings.

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

Wow. No bsb. They really must be endangered

Nice catch to start the year.

Wahoo and blackfins are here all year long

Someone isn’t that good with math here… Judging by the picture these are #30 on average x16 = 480lb - 30% waist (tuna and hoos are good for that) ~~ 300+++lb of meet / 6 = 50lb per person. You will pay over $500 for that in a store.

Bottom line… Great F$$n Job guys. And Kudos for going out-there in a rough.

Also, Someone stated that BF and hoos are there all year long… while that may very well be true, they (at least BF) are NOT biting all year long.
