these are 6 or 7 years old. i replaced today. are they suppose to look this crappy?
I have a yamaha F225 and just put a new water pump and t-stats in because i have never been able to flush on a hose because it won’t pee. I have used the flush adapter, but i feel like it should pee fresh water to get a good cleaning.
put it in the water and it does pee a little better but still can’t get it on the hose. any one else have this problem
So you can do that? just get a hose splitter and run one to the connection on the motor and one on the rabbit ears? that would be great if i could get it to pee in the driveway.
Thanks,
Test them by putting in a pot of water on the stove and heat it up. You should see them open when the water gets to 180 or 200 or whatever degree your thermostats are.
T stats should be replaced every 300hrs I believe. Those look pretty old.
on my F250 its hard to get it to pee on the fresh water hook up. Tilting all the way up helps for some reason. I’ve heard of people taping off the lower sections to get it to pee up top then removing the tape. Never done this as tilting up all the way gets it to pee. Do not split you hose. You will not have enough water. IF you do use two hoses from two differend spickets.

I have same engine, Yami F200 and just had my thermostats and water pump replaced by Chris V @ 315 hours. I am able to get mine to P with the hose connection but I had to use hose fully open and slightly down hill. Your water pressure may be the culprit there. But I have used the splitter method with success too.

I have to respectfully disagree with the splitter not having enough water.
the purpose of the waterpump is to provide enough water to keep the engine cool, period.
it doesnt take much water being pumped directly into the block to keep it cool, especially at low rpms.
the only reason you need water at teh lower unit when using the flush adapter, is to keep the rubber impeller on the waterpump from overheating
