THICK-N-THIN 4/26

Lines in at 7:30 at the Edisto Banks but nothing to show for it. Pushed off toward 226 hole and managed just four dolphin by 1:30. Heard alot of chatter on the radio about the bite inshore of the banks so we headed toward Royal Terrace. We found a small weed line with a tree in it in 230’ of water and the fish were stacked on it. On the first two passes we had five rods go down both times and only managed to land three fish each time. Not to bad for two adults and a twelve year old. After two more passes we missed a couple of knock downs and managed just one more fish. Being 3:30 by this time we decided to wrap things up. We had everything put away when we just happened to be idiling by the tree. I could see a half dozen triple tail swimming around the end of it and never having caught one thought we shouldn’t pass this oppurtunity up. Well I still haven’t caught one (they didn’t like my chunk ballyhoo) but the school of dolphin that was a little deeper went beserk. An hour later after taking turns with the spinning rods we had another dozen dolphin in the box and forced ourselves to head for Shem Creek even though there were eight or ten more still circling the tree.
I want to thank Mike and Devon for a great day on the water and some great memories.

Total for the day: Twenty three dolphin including one slobberknocker and three very happy fisherman!

Nice report, glad ya’ll found them, I can’t wait to get out there. I spent all weekend doing freshwater certification dives, but hopefully we will get out this week.

What a great report. Sure would have liked to see a few pics of the dolphin. Was there any size to any of them? Sounds like a great day and also alot of good eats.

Don’t you just love those Mahi magnets! I have never been able to get a tripletail off those either. Great day, well done.
