Thick-N-Thin 4/29

Left Shem Creek at 5:30 and headed toward 226 Hole. Stopped on 73/74 degree temp break in 250’ and it was game on. Ten minutes into the hunt we started the day off with a fire drill having six lines hit within a minute. Managed to boat 5 of the 6 fish. The bite stayed hot till 11 and then just tapered off for us. Had 2 wahoo hooked up off the down rigger on a hard bait but both times they managed to shake loose after several long runs. On the way in decided to stop on some bottom numbers to break long ride up and just enjoy the ocean. Bsb, b-liners, porgys were more than willing to give us some entertainment. All in all a great day on the ocean, cold beer, and fishing with some great friends.

Total:
21 Mahi (mostly slingers, 6 gaffers, threw back 1 peanut)
2 lost Wahoo (more on this on the discussion board)
Approx 45 Bsb, b-liners, porgys (kept 13 outstanding ones)
1 absolute great day off work and on the ocean!

Great Job! I wish I had went yesterday.

Did you happen to see a streaking 25wide with a Dolphin attached to it? Great day!

I didn’t see the rod but heard about it on the radio. Just how did the fish get the rod?

The center rigger clip did not release until the rod went through it on the way over the stern. Nice Dolphin though, jumped and taunted us for a few minutes.

Could have been worse, at least it was not a 50.
