Thief

Showed up Saturday at 330 am and realized my 250 qt kahki yeti cooler full of bait, rigs, ice, tools, bait tray, etc had been stolen from Ripley Light. Went down the dock and borrowed bait and rigs and went anyway. Huge thanks to the Daymaker captain and crew for the help during a desperate time. Ended up with a blue and a 44 lb dolphin plus a couple of other small ones.

When we pulled up at 330 am there was a Z71 with a gamecock sticker and LED lights that pulled off. This may or may not be the culprit. Yeti is basically brand new and has a distinctive scuff/scrape mark on the left hatch if you are facing the cooler.

all this theft is starting to worry me,especially since your boat is right where i keep mine…

I have downgraded my gear, and only fish Zebco 202’s, which can be left in boat overnight. Seriously, this rash of theft does stink.

Tell me about it. I no longer leave my keys on my boat. After all these years with no problems, I’m re-thinking how I leave everything on the boat.

Are there security cameras by the dry stack?

Hope this helps was the truck jacked up and did it have blue LED lights in the front and clear lens LED in the rear Big Gamecock stick in the middle of back window. Ive seen this same truck riding around MT.P and the Isle of Palms. Dunno if that will help but if it is the culprit look in those areas windjammer on weekends maybe. Its a younger guy mid 20-30s that drives it. Thats why i’m a Clemson Fan cant trust chicken sh%*.

Where is your fishing report with the bloody decks?

I do not mean to rail on the police, however, they simply do not care about thefts such as these. I have had numerous items stolen off my dock and boat on Coburg Creek over the years. The police could care less and basically let you know you are wasting their time and your own by calling them. It is very very frustrating - anyone who steals is basically scum!

Was the cooler strapped down. I know Yeti’s have loops to lock them to your boat. I plan on getting one, one day. I hate to hear about yours but they are a considerable chunk of cash for most people. Some people have no respect for others things and like the other guy said, the police really don’t care about theft of this sort. I had a problem with someone stealing things off my back porch. I called the police and nothing was done. Then I started sitting on the back porch with my shotgun at night. Amazingly nothing was every taken again.

Hate to say it but a thief in zip ties and a quick trip to deep water sounds appropriate.

Had to have been AT LEAST two people involved. 250 qt cooler full of ice and baits etc is a fairly heavy and bulky item. Someone had to have seen something…that’s a pretty brazen act. Man I hope you get your stuff back and he/she/them responsible go down HARD.

We have a fenced in boatyard where I live.
You might think it’s secure?
I take everything off my boat when I store it.
There have been thefts by other boaters who store there as well as outside sources.
“Dam, Bubba, we need an anchor!”
“Grab one from another boat.”
The folks who store there have to live in the development; so this is neighbors stealing from neighbors!

Sorry about your loss. That is a big chunk of change. I don’t trust anyone anymore and that is sad. My neighborhood has had a rash of things stolen in the past months. I am thinking on putting up some game cameras to see if anyone is snooping around my boats. Problem is I might needs 2 of them. One watching the boat and the second one watching the first camera. Hate a thief!!!

So the Gamecock stickered truck is the thief? Or are you just coming to that conclusion on your own?
