you say WTF. Troubleshot a good bug this morning. DEKA 1000MCA starting battery, voltage looks good and load tested OK on the lead posts, so I think that the batts good but engine won’t attempt to start, check all the obvious things, all good. It came to me to load test on the threaded posts - failed. Apparently, the internal connection is intermittant - lesson learned.
Dang,
That just sums up any project I do on my boat. I’ve always had a weak startup and sometimes it wouldn’t start on 1 battery. I’d have to switch it to both and it would still struggle to crank. I load tested the batt’s, both fine. Finally, I got fed up and pulled new #2 guage wire from the terminal posts to switch. $140 dollars well spent! I don’t know for the life of me why Scout ran #6 about 12’ vs. staying with #2. I didn’t do the ohms law calculation but it fires up like champ now.
