Bowhunter, cerish the time you are able to fish alone! I use’to fish alone all the time and I was good company. Then all of a sudden I got to old to go by my self, so my wife and friends say! I know how it is to call folks that want to go only to say it to hot or cold or its raining!

From talking with my buddy, the open water bite had slowly declined and fish have started moving into the harbor. Water temp up there is mid 50s… We will be catching bunker, anchoring then chumming and cutbaiting with a couple live bunker floated away from the boat. I will post a good report when I get back. We fly out of charlotte at 6am Thursday and come back into charlotte at 8am sunday.

Fished out of Oregon Inlet some on charters for stripers. Same sized fish…and thick schools at the right time of the year. My last trip up there I remember fishing in 45’ of water, but the machine was marking bottom at 20’. The school was so thick the ducer couldn’t shoot through it. We would troll the heavy stuff and catch the boats limit in an hour or two, and then pull out the lighter gear. My dad and I took our trout rods one year and landed several fish in the 20# range…8# test, Calcutta 50s, 6’ G.Loomiss GL2s. Now that was fun.

Definately the way to go. IMO, alot more fun fishing live bunker or chunkin them than trolling. The bunker should be pretty thick this time of year there around the city.

Nice place to fish for your first yankee salt water striper trip, but definately put a fall Montauk trip on your bucket list.

Good luck and looking forward to your report an
