This is a Striper

44 inch Chesapeake Bay Striper! Didn’t get a weight!

Nice fish. Solid 30s there! I Will be up that way in 9 days. We will be up a little farther around Long Island though in Raritan Bay probably. Gonna fish for 3 days. Did yall live bait, troll, or cut bait for them…

Went out on a charter! They had planner boards out with 24 rods pulling umbrella rigs! This fish had 200 yds of line out! Heck of a pulling match as she kept trying to go deep! Plus you had to fight the rig! They are in their Trophy Season, where you can only keep 1 per day and it has to be 35 inches or over!

24 rods trolling? Please tell me that’s a typo!! I would love to see a utube video of that.

If your on facebook look up Jerry Harris… Team tackle direct or something like that. He has videos of pulling the spread pictured below…50 rods…

Yep, not a typo! Guess my charter was half stepping!

That is sick! I get tangled up enough with 12-14 rods.

These guys make their own planner boards out of 2x6’s about 3 feet long! They use a main line to the board, made out of commercial weed wacker cord and run them out about 150 feet from the boat! Can’t beat the Charter price! $100 a man and they will stay out until everyone has their fish! Left the dock at 6 AM and I was done fishing at 7:30. We were back at the dock at 11:30!

Holy Crap!!! 50 rods?? I have my hands full with just 6. Nice fish Easy!!!

Thanks Bob! That’s another one off my Bucket List! With 50 lines they must be running the boards out 200 feet or more! So a fish that size has at least 300 foot head start on you if it hits the line way out!

Can you catch and release now? With an opportunity to catch fish like that, I would hate to stop fishing after just 1 fight.

I guess you can release them! I couldn’t ask for one better that that, so I quit! I did release a short one after that! Everyone had caught their fish and the crew was bringing in lines and one went off so I brought it in! It was maybe a keeper? Didn’t even bother to bring it aboard for a measurement!

Nice fish. Rick K had a 53 lber in that area some years ago

Yeah, that’s a really nice fish and I would not have thrown that one back either. But I just like to fish and even though everybody had their fish, I would have wanted to stay out and fish more. That’s why I was asking about catch-and-release.

That’s one thing that I don’t like about our “5 and done rule”. I fish alone most of the time so my day can be over quickly.

Bowhunter, I fish by myself a lot also! Trying to get retirees together is like herding cats! One guy won’t fish because it’s to hot, but will sit on his azz, back up against a tree, all day in the winter turkey hunting! Another will say he’s in and you plan the trip for that many and he begs off at the last minute because his Grand Mother, died for the 3rd time! Last time he did that I got him to send me a check before the trip! He called at the last minute and begged off and I told him it was to late! He was all pissed off when I said that I had already spent his money! He wouldn’t talk to me for 6 months! I still have his uncashed check! I hope it mess’s his checking account up for years! I just bought a tent, that sets up in the bed of your pick-up truck! Just right for an single overnight fishing trip!

Easy, people that know me will tell you that I WILL FISH. Almost any conditions except lightning. I just love it. I know what you mean about trying to get people to go. It’s too early, too hot, too cold, too windy, etc, etc, etc. Always something. I’m not retired…YET, close, but not yet. My work schedule gives me a lot of time off during the week when most folks are at work so I fish alone. One advantage of that is that I can go when I want to. When I’m off, I’m either fishing or planning to go.

Bowhunter, the skipper of the boat asked me to go Yellow Fin fishing with him this Summer! I told him to just call me and if I answered I was there! He has his private boat, docked at Ocean City MD. Said they only had to go 50 miles out![:0]

Nice! I’d like to do that myself. I don’t get many opportunities like that as most of my friends fish freshwater.

I know Bowhunter! No one will remember it, when you die, except the friends, that fished it with you! That’s good enough!
