Thanks guys for taking the time to share your outings, pics, reports, boats/motor recommendations. It fuels my enthusiam to move to Charleston and is invaluable for new folks taking to inshore and salt water.
So as I house hunt, what rivers do I want to be near? Stono, Wando, any is a good bet?
Forgot my offer. Anyone willing to show me the ropes of inshore, I’d be more than glad to reciprocate with a trip to the CO mountains for Elk hunting. Even after moving to SC, I will head back every year to the mountains. I have buddies with outfitter tent, and have gotten elk with bow, black powder and 30-06. But I’m looking forward to trading my 6 weight St Croix for a beefier Reds rod.
Welcome to the site, I’m not from Charleston but from south of there near Beaufort, when you get here send me a PM and we’ll get you on the water. I’ve fish Charleston some and had my best luck on the Wando and ICW but there’s Reds all over the place once you know what to look for. The best way to get started is a good local guide and we have many to choose from, I’d recommend Jamie Hough at flatspotcharters he put you on em.
Tight lines
Thanks Bob for the post and offer out on the water. I’ve shelled out $400 only once for a guide in Colorado, and just don’t like the steep price, but will probably go that route at some point. Just thought I love to fish and most guys on this site enjoy it more than me. So why not try to get out with someone who wants to share their stories, both good and bad? Heard Beaufort is an awesome area, full of history.
you really do get out of this site what you put into it…get active, met some people, trade stories and most importantly just listen…listen and read what others are posting…join a local fishing club, fish some local tournaments…and enjoy! welcome sir…

I’m from the Lowcountry but have lived in Charlotte, NC for the last 10+ years. I wanted to get reconnected to the Charleston fishing community and figured CF.com was my best bet to obtain knowledge and connect with the locals. I’ve been able to do both in less than six months. Good luck on your move, and welcome to the site.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the welcome. Many apologies for posting in the Reports section. Not used to posting on forums. Just got excited to find this site. Moving over to Discussion, but appreciate not gettin ripped on.
Welcome Mountainman1. Good luck on the house hunting. I will say between Mt.Pleasant and Awendaw is really good area to look, if you don’t want to be rite downtown. Good value and you have Copahee Sound, Bulls Bay and the ICW on one side and the Wando River, which leads back to the harbor on the other side of Hwy 17. If you like to fish inshore, that’s were you want to be. But really anywhere is great in this area.

Best Advice ever.
I have met many great and generous people on this site, along with a few not so great, but follow Bonzo’s advice, and youll see results.
First, any creek / waterway in and around the Charleston area is a GREAT place to live. Might want to consider if you ever plan on running offshore - kind of stinks to run an extra hour just hit the Jetties!! Lots of good neighborhoods /areas that are pretty close to everything. As everybody here has stated, stay active on the site and if you have a question about a particular area just start a thread - guarantee you will get a response!!
Mountionman always looking for someone to fish with. Run 2 boats. 14 ft John for the rivers and creeks and a 20 CC for some offshore action. As for the inshore fishing get a cast net, learn how to use it. Toss some cut mullet around the docks for some reds. Get with the local b&t shops and they can assist you with setups. Pick up some MM;s as drift them along the creek mouths for some flounder. I also hit the docks with sandy bottom near the shore as long as you see bait swimming around. Welcome to the low country and good luck.
A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.
