This Winter's Boat Projects Complete

I have a 2011 Sundance FX17 Flicker Flats boat with a 70HP Yamaha four stroke. Loved it since the day I got it. It had basically no frills when I bought it new (even had to add a GPS/sonar) so I and have been slowly adding “can’t live without” stuff. This winter was the biggest upgrade. Since I wanted a Power Pole and jack plate I went ahead and got both so they could be installed while removing the motor just once. I didn’t want to drill holes in the transom for the Power Pole - just doesn’t sit well with me. So I got the brackets to mount between the transom and jack plate. I went with the Power Pole Sportsman II and Atlas MicoJacker. Since I needed a new switch for the jack plate somewhere, I took the opportunity to design/build a new switch panel with the great guys at New Wire Marine. I also added an aerator in my console bait well and the switch for that in the new switch panel. I ran into the Topside Custom Seadeck guys at the Haddrells fishing show in January and got them to make me a pad for the top of my Igloo Sportsman cooler. It came out great. I got all the other new gear installed by Heirs Marine up here in New Ellenton. They do fantastic work and are great to work with.

I can’t say enough good things about all the people and companies who helped with these projects.

Eric at New Wire Marine helped with the new switch panel. He is super sharp and knows exactly what you’re talking about and how to get it done. He knows how to make it all work and has great ideas.

Jeff at Topside Custom worked hard to make the pad right for the unusual shape on the top of my cooler. He was great to work with.

Here’s the boat porn.

The old switch plate was rusting under the paint and two screw holes were stripped.
