The bite should be good if you can get out there. Sometimes it takes a little longer than the forecasts show for the seas to settle. The Edisto Buoy is a good indicator of seas, but it is ~40 miles out. When venturing offshore early in the mornings, I always look at it to see if the forecast is meeting the actual conditions.

If its too rough to go to the nearshore, the shelter that the jetties provide can offer great fishing as well. Don’t be too proud to stop at the jetties and fish for a few hours until the seas settle down.
