Thoughts on 2018 dolphin run

Whats your thoughts on the 2018 dolphin run? Is it over? I know it is normally winding down this time of the year but it seems like it got off to a late start but didn’t last any longer than usual. Sure there were some boats that did good with the dolphin but it just seems like they never showed up good as thick and didn’t see as many real nice gaffers. Possible they not finished and they still down south?

From the guys that shared meat with me, this was a better than average season for them. Not over yet, but the weather may say it is.

Hi guys, this is a new fish for me, do they just pass thru and continue north like striped bass do.

It’s been a good season so far. No it’s not over yet.

Good year for us. Much better mahi than last year and better than most years past.Good BFT year as well with really nice size BFT . Bottom on fire as usual with more snapper to try and navigate through. Cobia better than ever. Now if we could get a few YFT show back up…

I think there is still plenty of time left. Historically for me I have caught large numbers into the middle of June. The fish are still for the most part being caught in 500 ft + depth. I think typically towards the end of the run the fish move in thick to 130 ft for a couple weeks. Seeing as they are still not that shallow I think there is still plenty of time left.
