I have a 2003 Johnson 150 2 stroke oil injected that runs good except for one issue. When I first crank it and let it warm up it runs great but after I stop and fish a while or idle a while it wants to stall out when I give it the throttle. I have noticed oil in the water behind the boat when sitting still so it apparently is not burning all of the oil that is mixing with the gas.
Any ideas what could be causing this and DIY fix?

you need to start with a spark and compression test.
if the engine isnt firing properly on one cylinder, the fuel and oil will come out the exhaust and appear as a slick.

Thanks Chris V for your reply. I will check these this weekend. On another note someone also told me that I should check to make sure that the oil return line is not clogged. When I looked at my oil tank I only see the line with a bulb coming out of the tank along with what appears to be an electrical line. There is another nipple on the tank which is capped so I don’t see a return line. Should there be a oil return line to the tank?

I checked the spark and compression yesterday and all is good. When I was turning the motor over to check the compression I noticed some fuel coming out of the throat of one of the carburetors so I believe that I may have a float sticking or choke issue causing my problem. Carbs were rebuilt last year so I guess I need to go back through them.
