Through-Hull Ducer - Triton 2895

Helping a buddy with a new MFD (Simrad GO9 XSE now, adding NSS12 later) install on his new-to-him Triton 2895.

Currently has an Airmar B60 round style through hull and an Airmar B45 bronze style through hull installed. Both appear to work, but both limit depth reading to 800-1200’…not good enough.

Looking for suggestions on which model to replace with. Need depth readings to at least 2000’, preferably more for a day sword trip in the future.

The GO9 XSE currently is on sale at West Marine for $1199 with Navionics and the TotalScan tranducer. Thought of using this transducer, but it’s the long surface skimmer style, and would be in a very vulnerable spot directly at starboard bunk board under the step in the hull…I guess I could cut some length off of the bunk board, or move jack/winch stand aft to clear.

Anyone have a through hull ducer lying around? Suggestions on what to look for in a new one? Certainly another $1000 to make this stuff work doesn’t sound fun, but of course might have to happen.

Found this Lowrance bracket…made for installing flush on the step in the hull…

Anyone see a problem with doing so? Is the step in the water on plane?

I would be shocked if you got anywhere close to 2000’ with the total scan transducer regardless of where you mount it.

Call these guys, they have helped me pick out the correct ducer a few times.

I don’t believe the ducer pictured will be in the water when running.

That’s exactly what I did…and Mike was INCREDIBLY helpful…looks like a B265C is the way to go, and can be used in the future with the NSS12 EVO3 that’s going in after the summer.

Guess I’ll try and acquire the totalscan to add to the Bentz-Craft!!

Well…after talking to Simrad, the gemeco guy was a little confused on the functionality of the Simrad GO series…and now I’m stuck.

Looks like we’ll use the B60 that’s currently installed until he orders the NSS12 EVO at a later date, and do the 265C with it later.

Good thing I called Simrad before we spent $1500 on a ducer that wouldn’t work!

I would think there would be a lot of turbulance behind that step!
