Thru-hull fittings that are unreachable

Its that time again, Time to start trying to figure out all the ways to prevent bad things from happening. i need some trick to checking Thru hull fitting on a sea-pro 238 wa that are unreachable by normal people. Any suggestions would be appreciated…These are fish box drains and a sink drain. The wash down and livewells are a little more reachable and checked off…thanks

Unfortunately sometimes you have to cut a hole and install an access cover.

I have a 2002 235 wa. A newer model may be configured a little differently but I can get to those fittings on mine.

You have to be a bit of a contortionist, but if you reach as far as you can through the opening in the cabin seat on the starboard side, you can put your hand on that sink drain hose and fitting. Not as good as a visual, but you can certainly tell if its loose or not.

For the fish boxes (mine has two), you’ll have to remove the rod holder insert under the gunwhale in order to inspect the fittings. This means removal and replacement of the sealant, but it will be worth the peace of mind once you do it.

Like I said, yours may be configured a little differently…hope this helps.

If you mean checking for leakage just fill with hose water while on the trailer. Crawl underneath and take a look

Thanks Bottomsup, sounds like they are close to the same boat. I’ll look closer at removeing the rod holder piece and just figure on resealing it. Has anyone ever heard of some sort of pressure test like they do on plumbing systems? Sounds like a side project for some engineer type…Thanks for the input.
