Thurs AM From The Bank

Thanks to Steeltom providing some intel picked up from his clandestine operations at lunchtime, I decided to make a pit stop on the way to work in the morning.

Got there about 7:00 and picked up 4 before 7:45. Should have had 5, but I lost one right as I got him to the rocks. He looked to be about 25 lbs or so…LOL

Lots of bait in the water, but really not a whole lot of visable schooling. No real size to the fish, but they were all on topwater, so who cares.

Wow … not bad for 45 minutes before work …

I wonder how I would look out there in a shirt and tie fishing for Striper … LOLOL

it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish now!!!

Dang, not bad. Just when I get all ready to start fishing again I get 75 hour work weeks for the next 5 weeks. Atleast the overtime will pay for the new trolling motor.

What’s up with the skinny fish now. Do they starve themselves during the summer hanging out deep where there isn’t any bait and gorge themselves in the spring and fall?

Actually, I stayed longer trying to get #5, but didn’t get one in the last 1/2 hr.

I may not make a whole lot of money, but yea, I gotta say, it is nice to have a job you can wear your fishing clothes to work.

Funny how the big ones always get away:smiley:

The background of the picture looks real familiar… might have to go back and do some research on the spot…

It’s common for them to be skinny like that at the end of the summer.

Someone else may know for sure, but I’ve always attributed it to them being so deep for so long during the summer in water with such a low O2 content. You can see how lethargic they can be late in the summer when they hit when they are down deep. It’s amazing they can even catch a bait sometimes.

IMO, that is why the fishing can be very good even when they are deep and very lethargic. It’s so much easier for them to catch those herring when they’re tied to a hook and sinker.

Also, maybe they won’t leave that cooler deep water to come up to where the majority of bait is to grab themselves a bite to eat.

Now that’s a fun 45 minutes!
They look to be about the size I was catching this morning. (report in MSC section)
Fishing has definitely improved.
Hopefully some bigger fish will start showing up.

Went back at lunchtime to get #5 and the fish were schooling all over as I pulled in, but most all way out of casting range. Shortly after I started fishing some came up close in and I got #5 right off the pier. Crazy to see them schooling like that at noon on a bright sunny day.

You think this guy was hungry or what?

I think Tim likes to tell stories and get people to drop their kids off early at school in order to get some company on the dam in the mornings…:imp:…lol…will give it another shot after work.

Yea, I knew it would be dead this morning. I was just glad you and Rob were there so I had someone to talk to about how good it was yesterday. LOL

I may stop by at lunchtime.
