Thurs Eve/Night Report

Had a fun trip last night with an ex neighbor and good friend that wanted to catch some fish for an upcoming fish fry. That’s usually the kiss of death for me, but we headed on out about 7PM from the dam for a meat trip on the lower lake.

Started off with free lines and picked up one fairly early until they really turned on about 7:45 maybe? They were occasionally bustin on top, but we stayed with the feelines and only casted when they were in range. By dark we had 8, with 4 keepers and 4 shorts. Mostly caught in about 15’. Only 1 caught casting a plug.

Right after dark we set up on the same point, anchored up in 11’ and fished cut bait. We stayed there a couple of hours and had a good steady pick of cats and a single striper, which turned out to be our biggest at maybe 28" or so. Actually caught it at the same time as a nice cat on our only double hookup of the night.

Our biggest surprise was this bass, about 5 lbs or so. Pretty sure that’s the first one I have ever had hit a cut bait.

By about 11 it seemed to slow a bit and we decided to hang it up, head in and get the fish iced down. Beautiful night on the lake with absolutely perfect weather.

Nice night! Cant beat fresh fish for a fry.

Good job. Glad you guys had a fun, safe, and successful fishing trip. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Nice fish thanks for sharing the pictures. I’m not much of a lake guy but might have to give it a shot. I just moved down from up north (Cleveland) and that’s a monster bass for up there, hell a four pounder is considered the start of monster class so that’s a great fish thanks again
