Thurs report

Florida Boy, all the advice you’ve been given is spot-on. In order to get the most out of your striper fishing, your boat has to be properly outfitted. It doesn’t matter if you have what you have or a 12 foot jon boat. You’re not going to catch fish like we do without a trolling motor, good electronics, a good bait well, and properly placed rod holders. Get all that in place, and the learning/catching begins.

Fla. Boy 2 If you want to offshore and striper fish alot, you gonn’a need 2 boats! one set up for offshore species and the other set up for lake striper fishing. Equipted with 12 rodholders, 3 anchors, an I pilot 2 baittanks 5 batterys 3 cast nets a 2000W gen and lights chem and pumps for bait . a 500 gal tank at home ect.

I disagree … our Sea Pro 2100cc can go offshore and catch Amberjacks, Mahi, Blackfin, Yellowfin, ALL of the Snappers, Sailfish, and even Swordfish … Can also head Inshore and catch Redfish, Snook, Trout, and Black Drum … Can also take her super skinny and gig Flounder and Sheepshead …

Then all I have to do is hose her off and dump her into Lake Murray … without changing a single thing … and catch Stripers for days …

That all said, don’t really need but one anchor, four Group 29 batteries, two cast nets, and no genset/lights (unless you’re gigging) …

You WILL need more than 12 rod holders (we have 9 on each side, 9 across the back, two on the console (not including rod holders), and one on the bow) … We have three bait tanks - two 25 Gallon Graylines and one 50 gallon G&M … We have two home bait tanks (the garage tank is 275 gallons and the basement tank is 500 gallons)

So if you really want to you can use one boat for all three bodies of water …

… it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish !!!

I don’t know if you really need as much as Lawcrusher has, but I do think yours could be a dual purpose boat, for both salt & fresh. A good GPS/sonar, I-pilot trolling motor & a good bait tank is a minimum.
Granted, if you’ve got the bucks for 3 tanks in the boat, 30 rod holders(+ rods), and 2 big tanks at home, go for it.
I fish out of a 16’ Lund, with 8 rod holders, a homemade 20 gal. bait tank(which will keep herring for up to 10 hrs. in the middle of summer), a Lowrance 7 HDI and an I-pilot TM. The last two being the most costly. And I catch fish.
My main problem has been learning the lake & the striper’s patterns. I’m getting better, but still learning.
