Thursday 09-20

Fished this morning in the same area as I reported last week. (eastern edge of A-1) The fish were a bit further back in the cove this time. They were also smaller. I caught my five (all on jigging spoon) but not much to get excited about. One was barely 21 inches and the rest were about 18. There was a lot of schooling, mostly way back in the cove but they never stayed up more than a minute or two. From what I saw come over the rail of the boats chasing the schools, they didn’t seem very big either.

Anyone have any advice about the habits of larger fish this time of year?

Jack, there is no rhyme or reason to finding good fish during the fall transition. We just have to keep plugging away until we find the right school. They could be anywhere and nowhere at the same time. Unfortunately, there’s not wiggle room with 5&done.
