Cleared the Jettys at 6:45. Headed out to some live bottom spots in 90’ and picked at bottom fish for the first 1/2 of the day. We threw most of them back. Lots of vermillion, 1 sea bass, 1 grunt (never caught one before), 2 sand perch, 3-4 sharks. Had some live bait on the bottom on a 50W and drag all the way up when something large swallowed it and started pulling line off w/ max drag! Juice fought him for about 15-20 minutes and we thought we might get to see what it was, but it was not meant to be. Decided to troll a little in the afternoon and caught a huge cuda and jumped off a nice wahoo that put on a little show first. Had a few more mystery bites and towards the end of the day caught about a 12-15 lb dolphin. Weather was perfect all day. We ran in and out at near top speed in a perfect ocean.
nice job… sounds like a good day to me… were the dolphin and hoo in 90ft
Yep, 90ft. That was one monster hoo. He hit the lure like he was moving 90mph then cleared the water by at least 10ft. He was definately one of the bigger wahoos I had ever seen.
