Got an early start and had lines in the water about 6:30 or so. Found some hungry fish pretty quick, but most were small. Only 3 small keepers to 23" out of about a dozen fish.
Stayed on one point the entire time covering different depths and the sweet spot seemed to be about 25 - 30 fow, although I marked fish as deep as 50’ as well.
Caught a few on DR and PB, but mostly just pulled FL’s, so the majority of fish were caught on FL.
Had to stop about 8:00 to head to work, but it seemed like they moved out shortly before then anyway. Don’t think I had a fish in the last 20 min before that and wasn’t seeing much on the FF.
Not a bad way to gear up going to work. Nowdays I don’t think I’d have time for work.
Vicar couldn’t make it, but we went out fishing a creek up our neck of the woods. Found almost as many fish as Monday, for the most part off points, but there wasn’t much of a bite. Brought in one green fish, one 21 inch, one 25 inch, and one 26, all on planer boards. Had several slaps at the downrod, but no hookups. Water temps going from 77 to 78. Nice day on the water, but it is starting to get hot.
What are the conditions to look for to switch tactics from planers to downrods?
If you anyone has lost about 50 - 75 yards of green monofilament line near John’s Creek in about 25ft. of water, call me. I’ve got it. Looks like about 20 lb. It did put up a good fight.

Interesting Morning. Found a number of shorts early and maybe the biggest catfish I have ever landed, all on planer boards or fl. Moved and anchored up on a point about 9: and landed my first keeper about 23,
and about 30 min later landed an 8.8 lb then landed one more about 30 min later. Ended with 5 keepers and 10 or 12 shorts about 11:30. All keepers on DR with live bait in 35 - 40 feet.

So what’s your point?
It was the best bite that I had.

Michael, probably the best condition to look for is seeing posts like KW186.
Steve, nice, sounds like it turned into a good morning for you. I thought about heading out again before work this morning, since I still have the boat hooked up. I was gonna skip the bait and try and spoon feed them, but after a long day yesterday, I just didn’t have it in me to get up early again.
Had a tough morning today. Wound up staying out till noon with only one 22" keeper out of 9 fish to show for it. One on fl and the others on cut and dr in 30’.
