Thursday April 12 Hilton Head

Headed SSE offshore at first light. Ran at 38mph into light seas. Water was 61 for the first 20 miles. Ran across 2 very nice weedlines in 120-140ft but water was 64-66. At 160ft,the water temp rose to 75.3 but kept running to find a visible line of some kind. At 700ft there was a real nice weedline, but the water temp had fallen to 73.4. Lines in and fish on at 10 min: small slinger. 30 min later, another small slinger. Thought things were going to be great, but as the weedline diminished and we turned around, the weedline began to break up a little. After an hour with no knockdowns, I saw some birds further out, so we headed that way to find nothing but a temperature rise to 75.2. Tried to return to the weedline but it had dispersed greatly and we hit nothing. Far to go for little. Saved the day with some bottom fishing. Saw some big swells out deep, that quickly diminished inside 600 ft.

Glad you made it out before the fans kicked on today. Another weekend and another front coming through, hopefully we can break this trend before May gets here.

What Andy said. And I’m guessing that 33VH made the ride a bit easier…

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

The fans probably only turn on out deep off the ledge and inside the coastal breaks today. Nearshore and mid depth where water is still cold likely stays light due to marine layer. A lot of people won’t go bc of the forecast but it will turn out to be a nice day at the nearshore and 80ft range
