Jonah and I decided to go fish the low and rising tide in Little River yesterday afternoon. We got there and the wind was howling, so I didn’t expect much because the water is still so dirty. We got to the honey hole and grabbed some good bait. the honey hole has disappointed me this year the few times I have been, but I am not about to abandon her because she did the job last summer. We fished a little farther out on the flat than we usually do. We put the lines out about an hour into the incoming and it was on. Jonah hooked up on a middle slot red, the about 5 minutes later, a nice 22.5" fish came over the gunnel and then it’s twin took off on another rod. Oh, if we would only have been fishing a tournament, we’d have been in the money for sure. It slowed down for a few, then we had a little hit. I figured it for a flounder, but it was a 12" trout, and then another red hit. For about 45 minutes, Jonah had fun fighting fish as did I netting them for him. Then he wanted to ride around, so we did before it was time to go home. It’s always good to see the little ones fighting fish. Jonah is about as good at me at it now. He never horses the fish and always makes me get them out of the water with the net. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful son, and I can’t wait for my middle to be old enough to go because he’s going to love it as much as Jonah does. Anyways, I thought y’all would like to read about a fun father/son outing on the water.
Good times!
That’s awesome Goozeman. Good on ya!
Thanks fellas. If y’all have kids take time with them because they grow up too fast, and if you don’t take time with them someone else will. We are planning on doing some tailer fishing this weekend down south with our good friend yellabird. Jonah and I are so pumped about doing that. It’s been too long since we’ve gotten down there to fish. Lots of reds and a lot less traffic on the water = a great time!
I’m just ready to get on the water for a bit. Catching fish would be a bonus! Been about a month since I have gotten out there. Anywhere!
