On the water around 7:30am. My plan was to do some jigging around the towers but it was way too crowded. (I was surprised to see so many boats on a weekday). I decided to fish a hump in the area where Weston reported he fished Sunday night. I caught two solid fish 26 and 27 inches over 7 pounds each. Both caught on a jigging spoon 60 feet down in 90 feet of water. Boat back on the trailer by 9:45.
Nice fish! I was in the same area a little later this am but by the time I got to the towers everyone was gone. Never marked much around the towers so I trolled towards the swimming area. Marked fish, got a couple pulldowns but no takers. Still a nice day on the water.
Good ones Crabjack! Mind telling us what kind of spoon you’re jigging? I’ve had some luck in with 3/4 ounce Flexits and 4&1/2 inch Daredevils in ths past this time of year but haven’t tried them lately. If yours is a secret, we understand.
We went out last night and waited on and dodged storms all evening. Only got an hour and a half of hook time, but Robert (my 13 year old) got 3 decent fish with one 6 or so pounder a pitching wedge from the towers. By 11:30, it looked like another storm was coming; so we put it on the trailer.
Nice! The left one is a fat little fish!

Looks like a Ducks Unlimited War Eagle from McLean Marine in Sumter in the background. I bought a 16 footer (I believe it was in 2004) in that same version from them and loved that boat - caught a lot of fish out of it. The were great guys and easy to work with. I sold that boat a couple years ago, but wish I still had it.
Good job on those fish! Thanks for sharing.

Fogman,
I don’t mind at all. Luhr Jensen Crippled Herring 2 ounce. I also like that they come with a single hook as opposed to a treble.
I found them at Sportsman’s Warehouse but other places sell them too.

Billy,
You’re correct. Mine is a 2005 17 foot side console w/75 Yamaha. I bought it used this past spring. I love this boat. Plenty of room, easy tow, sips gas and VERY fishable. Plus,I can store it in my back yard.
Nice fish Crabjack! thanks for the pics and the report
I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
Thanks Crabjack! Might have to go pick up a couple. That’s a pretty spoon.
