My wife and I had off today. So, we headed out on the Stono towards Kiawah and clean water. Got the incoming tide but it was still too shallow to get to where we wanted to be. Didn’t have a pole for “poling” so it was dragging the boat across the shallows for me.
Found our spot and it wasn’t long before my wife grabbed the rod with the screaming drag and started the fight.
After what seemed like a ten minute battle, advance and retreat, her screaming that her arms were shaking from being tired, she landed a 31 in red! Measured it, quick picture, revived and released.
The rest of the day was lots of whiting, ladyfish, a trout and some smaller reds including one in the slot (dinner). The big guy hit a quartered crab, the rest were mostly on live shrimp under float while the ladyfish preferred minnows on the bottom. A good day on the water!!
