I try to be in the rip. I want the baits in the rip.

most everyone has a tactic that can change as you see someone else catch one in a way/spot that you would have never thought could work.
I’m trying to think if I’ve done better on incoming or outgoing, seems it’s a coin throw.
Depending on tide is which side of rip I set up on, I like my bait sitting just below the rip as I feel the cobia are waiting for bait fish to come over it to make a quick meal.
Here’s another piece of advice. Watch for the fleet, back off a few hundred yards upstream of tide and look for a deeper channel or some break on the bottom and use the fleets chum slick. Because you know a lot of them are chumming and the sent will travel. Besides I hate crowds.
Another one, if your in the broad and your boat can take some rough water, keep heading out and look for the next fleet past the P.I. rip and pick a spot to yourself, if no Cobia the sharks can get pretty big.
