TIDES

What is the best tide to shrimp incoming or outgoing or does it matter, daytime or night, what depth to set up in… new to the whole Charleston area… Thanks

We shrimp St. Helena Sound daytime and have had best results on incoming tide. Both tides can produce results and it is a matter of which you can hit with your schedule.

I like the rising tide best

Best tides are any that are not weak. We have best luck around new and full moons. Out going just set up deeper than incoming.

You can’t catch 'um on the couch!

I am gonna try the St. Helena side late afternoon tomorrow out of Sam’s Pt. I am not as familiar with St. Helena and dayshrimping over bait. I’m usually in the Broad/Chechessee/Colleton at night. Any advice on where to try (general area)? Bull, CmB, Ashe, Morgan, etc.??? It should be about low tide when I get set up, so I’ll be shrimping the incoming. Thanks.

Nevermind. Trip got cancelled because of work. Can’t seem to get any time on the water this year. When I can go the weather is cruddy. When the river is right, I have obligations. Oh well, at least I can log onto Charleston Fishing and see what’s going on.
