Fished Sat and Sun. Saturday we had two people on the boat and I caught my first Blue Marlin. Fought the fish for 45 minutes on a TLD 25. I was able to fight the fish, see him jump several times, wire the fish and let him go by myself on a 22’ boat. He swam away after a little recesitation and a few pictures. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget. And yes I took a swim. Chalk one up for the mosquito fleet. We picked at the dolphin the rest of the weekend. Ended the weekend with 9 dolphin, 1 Wahoo, and 1 BLUE MARLIN!!!
All we had was an I-phone to take pictures. So I was leadering the fish. Craig was driving and taking pictures. It was a fire drill, but thank God we had the i-phone on the boat. I have heard that if you don’t have a picture, it did not happen.

Great job. My claim to fame on Saturday was giving you guys the congratulations over the radio. Geting a fish like that in your own (small) boat is like winning a Super Bowl. No matter what happens the rest of your life, nobody can ever take that moment away from you. I consider it a victory for the entire Mosquito Fleet Of which I am a proud memeber, 21’ Hydra-Sport)!
Local Cluster, Thank you for the congrats on Saturday. We heard you loud and clear even over the cracking of the celebratory beer. You are right. It was an unbeleivable experience and one I will tell my son one day.
I thought you changed the name of that boat to the Aluminum Falcon.
I’m jealous, so I have to crack on the pictures: 1) nice elbow, several angles to judge size of arm 2)Shawn said next time he’ll volunteer to be cameraman (no comments here Shawn) 3)…nevermind…congrats. Fargin bastage. Wish company hadn’t been in town so we may have had our shot. Call me, I’ll buy you a celebratory beverage.
It was too much of a fire drill to get great pictures. I had to leader the fish myself while Craig drove and took pictures. If you notice, I made the rookie mistake of not putting a glove on before handling his bill. That hurts this morning. All of that while standing on 2 teasers and 5 other rods in the bottom of the boat. The camera angle was the last thing we were worried about. I will call you for that beverage once I get out of detox.
