We were on a fishing charter and the customer wanted to harvest a shark to eat and share with his family and friends and we were able to catch a nice big shark. We had the 6+ foot shark attached to our boat cleat when a tiger shark arrived decided our shark was going to be his lunch and went after our shark and it’s liver.
You’ve always heard that bigger fish eat smaller fish…that seems to be very true.
The other fish in the video were amberjack and the red fish on the fishing line was a vermillion snapper. Notice how the tiger put the vermillion in his mouth and then spit him out completely unharmed from his teeth.

…and I’m sorry I missed some parts of the action. It’s a little spooky to be leaning over the side of a boat with your arms in the water up to your elbows filming a tiger shark. My head was a little on a swivel looking around to see if any other sharks might show up. Turned out to be a good idea.
We finally managed to hook the tiger with a piece of the injured sharks liver and we gave chase. We got the tiger close to the boat but a sudden direction change and the shark broke off. Happened to us 2 times on 2 different hook ups. Each time we’d go back to our anchor line and the tiger would show back up looking to finish off the other shark (we’re thinking it was a dusky shark, but were not sure). Anyway, after the 2nd break off, we had 2 tiger sharks circling the boat. Sadly my go-pro battery was dead.

Thank you. I get to go along on these rides to pull anchors or tie rigs and for fun, I shoot videos. Every now and then, I’ll score a free beer.
We had about 59 minutes of video action compressed down to usually 2 minutes. Because of the tiger shark stuff, I did a few minutes extra. But boy, what an experience…we had some idea of what was happening down below, but until I saw the video - whoa!

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I’d love to go there, but it’s a little far on a 22 foot Ranger Bay.
And like I said, I’m just the unemployed guy that gets to go on rides for free labor if there is room and make videos…

I made a GoPro pole out of a piece of pvc and a mounting bracket out of aluminum. You can hold it down in the water a couple of feet below the hull and not stick your arm in the water. I can certainly understand your apprehension with that tiger in the water. Cool video.

“Claim”, why exactly was the shark tied off and tail wrapped? If you were gonna keep that illegal shark then put it in the boat. How is killing that shark and then filming the tiger eat it helping things? What does that show and teach your likely already ignorant clients ?? If you wanna be the lowcountry shark guide, then please do with Class and Lead by Example

The customer wanted to harvest the shark for their table fair. Harvesting the shark was not my call. Besides, we don’t think that was a sandbar shark.

FishnBarrels he posted earlier on that he is just a ride along that pulls anchor and takes pictures. He wasn’t the captain he was just there doing what was asked of him I’m guessing.
Claim i understand you are the picture guy and not the captain here…BUT “we don’t THINK it was a sandbar”. The captain of a shark charter and the name Sharkin Charleston better know (**() well every type of shark possible off our coast and identify as he catches. He should be educating the camera guy and all other crew on the boat as well! You should be asking questions and wonder why your “knowledgable” captain isn’t positively IDing the sharks he catches. While the video footage is cool, you should jump in the water with that camera next time and get some real interaction, and when the sandbar shark doesn’t bite you or threaten you, you might have more appreciation and respect for its important part of the ecosystem.
Sandbar for sure…cool video! People make mistakes and should learn from them, but he should have known better! Kill some sharpnose if anything, granted the limit is very slim pickins. Leave the big boys alone they thin out the yankees and ohioans!!!
