My wish is that I could have read this entire topic without all the ‘post editing’ that happened. I am not an avid offshore fisherman because I can not afford it, but I hate to see any fishing shut down. I do not like to think that when I get the opportunity to go offshore, certain species will be off limits to me. What will be shut down next? By the way, what is an ARS?

If you want to get into offshore fishing. Hang around and let people know you are interested. People are always looking for crew members willing to chip in.
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
Really? You just pick folks up off the dock? F that. I’d rather just stay on the hill before I take some stranger sixty miles offshore. To each his own I guess.
Chompers,
Just so that you will know, I said that I could not afford to go offshore fishing. I am not inept. I am an avid outdoor person who likes to hunt, freshwater fish, and inshore saltwater fish. I have been offshore on headboats out of Little River and Murrell’s Inlet a few times so I do know a little abou

Just seems risky to me. Sixty miles one way sucks with a stranger who turns out to be a huge a-hole. I wouldn’t know b/c I have friends who are willing to fish with me.
BTW, Phin, I’d still like to know where you went to law school. Just curious as I know several SC lawyers and wanted to see if you knew them/graduated with them. They’re younger guys (28-34 y/o). Have you ever thought of filing suit against the gov’t over the fishing issues you’re involved in?
Wes, once again, great job on the fishing(catching)!!
Also, thank you for all that you and the others have done, and are doing, to help all of us keep our fishing freedoms!!
I, too, have met some real good friends by fishing with them on my bote. I need crazy people to go with me, since I can only afford a tiny bote like The Miss Amanda to head out 60+ miles!
I have only had a couple that will not get another invite…[:0]

I hope i’m not one of the ones that won’t get invited back!
I had a great time catching those triggers with ya’ll!
As far as fishing with a total stranger, I learned a lot on that single day about finding and catching bait, finding fish, identifying them on the sonar, anchoring, rigging and catching triggers.
Information like that is priceless and takes years to learn to learn by yourself!
And best of I have two new friends and fishing buddies.
Thanks a lot Lynn and let’s do it again!

Seems risky to you? The more I read of what you write the more I can tell you probably won’t get invited with us “risky” bunch nor will you invite anyone to fish with you. Probably best for all involved parties this way.
You have been critical of me and a few others in this thread. But I feel people know me, Phin, and others. But we don’t know you. So would you like to share who you are and what you are about, why you are hear, what your non-alais name is?

My free time is of great value to me,so I would rather fish with those I know personally than take a chance with internet dating.Just my cent and a half.
How do you guys feel about fishing with those Russian mail order brides? I mean, yeah, they are strangers and such, but as long as you get a receipt and a 30-day guarantee on them, I don’t see it as an issue.

They are use to the cold so I am thinking bikinis in the SC winter would not be out of the question. Where is Charlestondiving? Surely he has tried this before.

Heard from a guy in NC that used to do snowy charters. Said he caught over 4,000lbs of snowies in 2009 on his boat alone, but NMFS says recreational catch of snowy grouper in the ENTIRE South Atlantic was only 2,900~ lbs. Not to mention how he caught snowies over 40lbs regularly, just like commercial guys off SC do (did).
More of the same…
