Tiller Extension for Outboard

Does anyone in the Charleston area make or sell quality outboard tiller extensions? I am looking for one for my Yamaha 15HP. I had a cheap one from Walmart that was junk. Ive seen a few online, but would prefer to buy local if possible.

Thanks!

West Marine may have them.

I have a Yamaha F25 and after searching around town ended up buying one off Amazon- I believe it’s made by HelmsMate. For $20 I wasn’t expecting much but have been pleasantly surprised with how it’s held up. It says its rated for up to 15hp but I have never felt unsafe while using it on my 25hp. I saw a guy with a fancy microskiff at the ramp that had a really nice carbon fiber tiller extension on his. I asked him about it and he said he ordered it from a company in Jacksonville: http://shop.carbonmarine.com/product.sc?productId=1&categoryId=3
I’m sure its worth the money but I just couldn’t justify spending $200 for a tiller extension on my creek boat.

Bosun - the ones from Carbon Marine are top shelf. That’s what I’ll be putting on my 25 when I have some cash lying around.

Just remember that you get what you pay for. Build quality, fit, and finish come at a price. I’ve built them before out of PVC but was never happy with how much they flexed and how heavy they were.

Maybe take a look at Strongarm tiller extensions? Not much to be found locally, that I’ve seen.

A long long slow walk in the spartina gives you time to think big thoughts and put your mind back into order.
