Tilt n Trim Issues

Should have dropped the 2k back then like 23 said, in it for almost 19 now in total…

I did have Charleston Marine rebuild the cylinder seals, but then a year later the pump orings were leaking so I had Tail Race Marine look at it for since CM moved across the river… anyway, seized and broken bolts allowed them to convince me to put a whole rebuilt unit on for 1750 with labor included. Look what a new OEM is now:flushed::rage:
I got my old unit back and have proceeded to rebuild it myself and my leisure instead of paying them 150$/hr to do it. A week and a half of soaking with kroil and a hammer and a torch and some ez-outs and I’m ready to rebuild…
Not sure if I’m going to sell or swap out for the other unit and sell it, but I’m definitely selling one of them haha

Edited to say that it was not an off-name unit, it was in fact a Showa rebuilt unit, sweet!

Also, the 650 at Charleston Marine… yea. I’m a glutton for punishment

Good read, salt and rust always win

Stump, sorry you are dealing with that headache. Dang that’s an unforgiving job.

In my slightly older and much wiser age now, I tend to spend more money up front knowing that I’m going to cost myself probably more money and frustration down the road of itry to repair something like this. I’m mechanically inclined and don’t mind doing any work myself, but dealing with saltwater corrosion just boils my blood.

I really hope it’s the last time you ever have to do this job!

Monkey sea*, Monkey do too

I’ve just been pouring more in for too long probably. This is what leaks out in a couple months.
